Hypnotherapy for Low
Self-Confidence

Low confidence affects so many people, in their work life, their family life and their social life. If you always doubt your decisions, hold back from speaking up or find yourself constantly comparing yourself to others, low self-confidence could be impacting you more than you realise.

You might even avoid certain social or work-related situations because you don’t think you’re capable or good enough, or you’re too anxious to cope.

But (and it’s a big but), it’s not a fixed trait. Confidence is a learned habit, and can be built and developed, so you don’t have to go your whole life feeling insecure.

I’m a qualified hypnotherapist in Chester, using hypnotherapy to quieten that inner critic, reconnect you with your self-worth and make sure you show up as the most confident version of yourself.

How does hypnotherapy help with confidence-building?

Confidence issues can stem from all sorts of past experiences, trauma and anxieties, and it’s all about understanding the main cause to remove negativity and allow us to rebuild your low self-esteem. You might be preparing for a work presentation, a social event or trying to make a big decision and your lack of confidence is getting in the way and making you feel anxious. Hypnosis for confidence works to:

1. Quieten that inner critic

Do you always have a voice in your head telling you you aren’t good enough, that you’ll mess up, that you’re not capable? This kind of negative self-talk is a very vicious cycle and one that’s hard to escape from. Hypnotherapy for self-confidence helps you to criticise the voice and reduce the impact it has on your daily life.

3. Access your subconscious mind

Around 95% of our thoughts, behaviours and emotions are driven by the subconscious. This is a huge amount of brain power that we aren’t even aware of. Hypnosis allows us to work directly with this part of the mind, so new, more positive beliefs about yourself can really take hold.

2. Get to the root of low self-esteem

Low confidence can sometimes have an obvious cause, whether it’s a difficult past experience, a setback or criticism that’s just stuck with you. Sometimes it's less obvious, and has simply built up gradually over the years. Together, we'll explore where your confidence took a knock, so we can work on it at the source rather than just the surface.

4. Reduce social anxiety and self-consciousness

If your confidence dips most in social situations, hypnotherapy for confidence can help calm that anxious, self-conscious feeling, so you can be more present and less caught up in worrying what others think.

Here’s where I can help

No matter what your low-confidence needs, whether you want to feel more confident at work, more confident in yourself and your body image or you simply want to feel good enough, I am able to help you.

I tailor every session to you, exploring what's really behind your confidence struggles and working together on practical ways to build it back up, for good.

I completed my hypnotherapy diploma with Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) and I’m also a certified member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH). Whether you've been struggling for years or have only recently started experiencing symptoms, I'd be happy to discuss how hypnotherapy may be able to help. You can view the kinds of sessions I offer here

The hypnotherapy process for low confidence

Initial consultation

In our first session, we'll chat about the low-confidence experiences you’ve had, how they’re impacting your daily life, and what you'd like to feel and achieve through hypnotherapy.

I'll also talk you through a bit of the science behind confidence and self-esteem, including how the brain works, how low confidence forms and why negative thoughts can feel so deeply rooted, even when logically you know they're not fully true.

Ongoing sessions

The structure of each session may change depending on what you need. I usually plan the schedule ahead of time, but the session is also dictated by you and the thoughts you’d like to discuss, based on what’s happened since the previous session.

Confidence needs space to grow, so I may set little challenges between sessions. These won’t be anything overwhelming, just gentle steps that might be a little outside your comfort zone. When we meet again, we'll talk through how those went, including what you learned and how you felt about it. We’ll also work through some practical, solution-focused techniques that you can apply within your daily life, long after our sessions end.

Finally, the session will close with 20 to 30 minutes of hypnosis. This is the time for you to fully relax and enter a trance-like state that makes your brain extra receptive to change and to positive thought. This is where the new, more confident beliefs we're building really start to embed themselves.

Why choose me for hypnotherapy for confidence?

Confidence struggles can feel quite personal to admit to, especially if from the outside you seem like you've got it all together. I want you to know there's no judgement here at all, whatever's behind your confidence dip, it's completely valid, and you don't need to hit 'rock bottom' to deserve support.

I trained through Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) and I'm a certified member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), so you're in safe, qualified hands throughout. You can see my full list of services here.

My aim is to always be friendly and approachable, working in collaboration with you instead of dictating what you should and shouldn’t do. We’ll work together to find out what’s holding your confidence back and how to break the cycle you’re stuck in.

I also have a dedicated therapy space at home, a private garden pod designed to feel calm and welcoming, somewhere you can properly relax, be honest, and just be yourself.

What my clients say

I honestly cannot thank Lee-Anne enough for the sessions she done with me. Anyone having any difficulties with anxiety, grief or the feeling of sheer panic should definitely get in touch with Olive Hypnotherapy.

FAQs

Can hypnosis for confidence help with social anxiety too?

Absolutely, confidence and anxiety are quite closely linked, and so many of my clients have noticed improvements to their social anxiety and self-esteem as their sessions progress.

Will I definitely feel more confident straight away?

Confidence tends to build gradually rather than overnight, so it’s more of a long-term approach that takes a bit of time. You might, however, notice small shifts fairly early on, with more lasting change building over the course of your sessions with me.

How many sessions will I need?

I generally recommend around eight to 12 sessions of hypnotherapy for self-confidence, though everyone responds to treatment differently and may need fewer or an increased number of sessions. We’ll keep your progress under review so we can add or take away sessions as needed.

Sometimes it’s not about the total number of sessions, but the frequency. Initially, you might benefit from one a week, reducing to once a fortnight and then once a month as your confidence improves.

How much does each session cost?

Sessions are £60 for one hour. The initial consultation is also £60.
